Gardner-Webb Drops 2-1 Decision to Presbyterian

The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team dropped its second straight match Thursday night against Presbyterian College. The Bulldogs have lost their last two games by a score of 2-1. Adam Augruso scored the Bulldogs' only goal of the match.
Presbyterian came out in the first half with a lot of pressure on the Bulldogs. However, T.J. Fox held the Blue Hose scoreless with six saves during the first period. Gardner-Webb couldn't seem to push the ball up the field during the first half, only taking two shots.
Despite the one-sided effort, both teams went into the half tied at 0-0.
The Blue Hose picked up the second half where they had left off in the first. Only 10 minutes into the second period, Presbyterian's Jonathan Anderson scored from only three yards out to put the match at 1-0 in favor of the Blue Hose.
In the 71st minute, Gardner-Webb tied things up, 1-1, when Augruso put away a free ball in front of the net. Shortly after, Presbyterian went back on top, 2-1, off Bennett Cope's breakaway goal in the 81st minute.
The Bulldogs only had seven total shots vs. 23 for Presbyterian. Fox finished the match with nine saves in the loss.
The Bulldogs next play host to USC-Upstate, Oct. 14th, at Varsity Field. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
