RADFORD, Va. The Gardner-Webb men's swim team picked up its first-ever dual-meet win Friday evening by downing VMI 119-90 while the women's team knocked off the Keydets by a score of 171-4. The women's squad also downed Radford by a score of 167-30 while edging JMU, 122-108.
The men's team evens its mark at 1-1 on the year while the women's program picked up its second victory of the season.
While the GWU women had an easy time with VMI due to the fact the Keydets' women's team consisted of just one swimmer, the Bulldog men earned first-place finishes (and school records) in the 200 medley relay, 1000 free, 200 free, 50 free, 200 IM, 200 fly, 100 free, and 200 back. The Bulldogs could have wrapped up a few more first-place finishes, but decided to exhibition some of the races in the second half of the meet.
In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of Kyle Hooley, Craig South, Steven Caudill and George Partin touched the wall in a record-setting time of 1:40.19. GWU also claimed second place in the event.
