
Bulldogs In Sixth After Day One

CHARLESTON, S.C. After the first day of competition that saw each student-athlete play 36 holes, the Gardner-Webb men's golf team stands in sixth place out of 12 teams at the Charleston Southern Fall Invitational, just 10 strokes out of first place.
Future Big South foe Radford stands two strokes ahead of second-place contender Belmont Abbey. Longwood is third, while Florida Gulf Coast is fourth and is followed by Stetson and GWU in fifth and sixth, respectively.
Presbyterian, Liberty, Jacksonville, High Point, Charleston Southern and Creighton round out seventh through 12th place, respectively.
The Bulldogs' Blake Palmer is tied for third on the leaderboard after shooting a 74 through the first 18 holes (two over par) before firing a three-under, 69, on the last 18 holes of the first day for a 143 total.
Andrew Rickard is tied for 21st after shooting five over par (149) through the first 36 holes. Rickard posted a 74 for his opening-round score before shooting a 75 for the second round.
Geordie Hagerman posted a 77 for the first 18 holes before knocking two strokes off his game the second time around the course, recording a 75. Hagerman is tied for 35th.
Joshua Philbeck is 10 strokes over par, having shot a combined 154 on the first day. He is tied for 42nd. Rounding out the field for GWU is Ryan Bell, who shot an 82 on consecutive rounds for a 164. Bell is tied for 69th.
The Bulldogs return to the links on Tuesday for the final round
of the competition.
