
Bulldogs Fourth Among NFCA All-Academic Teams

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its All-Academic Teams from the 2006-07 school year and the Gardner-Webb softball team was fourth on the list with a 3.493 GPA.
It marks the second consecutive season the Bulldogs earned a spot in the top-10, moving up from seventh a year ago when GWU had a GPA of 3.430. The squad was once again the top team in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Campbell was closest league member, finishing 22nd.
St. Bonaventure grabbed the top spot with a 3.622 GPA while Southern Illinois and Eastern Michigan were second and third, respectively.
South Carolina was fifth, followed by Valparaiso, Robert Morris, Detroit Mercy, Loyola and George Washington, which rounded out the top 10.
The Bulldogs are coming off the best season in school history, having advanced to the A-Sun finals and finishing with a record of 35-26-1.

The Bulldogs are slated to open the season on Feb. 15 in Auburn,
Ala., at the a tournament that is hosted by the Auburn Tigers.
