Camels Drop Lady Bulldogs 5-2

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Lady Bulldogs picked up two singles victories on Wednesday afternoon but it wasn't enough as GWU fell to the home team the Campbell Fighting Camels 5-2 in Buies Creek, N.C.
With the loss the Lady Bulldogs fall to 5-8 and 1-3 in the A-Sun, while the win improves the Camels to 13-3 and 5-2 in conference play.
Gardner-Webb dropped all three doubles bouts on Wednesday as the fell behind early to the Camels.
However, the Bulldogs tried to claw their way back into the match scoring victories at the No.1 and No. 3 singles, but the Camels proved to be too much as they took the other four singles bouts from the 'Dogs.
Freshman Laura Kriett won at the No. 1 singles position, as she easily defeated the Camel's Scarlet Alfonzo in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
Sophomore Jenny Gomez improved to 4-0 at the No. 3 singles position on the year as she came back from a 2-6 first set lost to drop Ana Surviladze of Campbell 6-4, 6-0.
The Lady Bulldogs will continue their A-Sun conference play this weekend as they will travel to Nashville, T.N. to face off with both Belmont and Lipscomb. Gardner-Webb will take on the Bruins of Belmont on Friday afternoon, March 16, at 2 p.m. and the Bison of Lipscomb on Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m.
