Osborne Selected To Play At World University Games

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Men's soccer assistant coach Jason Osborne has been selected to play for Great Britain at the 24th World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand August 8-18.

"It's an honor to represent Great Britain at the World University Games," Osborne said. "I appreciate Gardner-Webb for allowing me to have the opportunity to represent my country.

Osborne, an integral part of the coaching staff that led the Bulldogs to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2006, is part of the 20-man roster for Great Britain – its largest ever team for this competition.

The team opens competition in Group D on Aug. 7, a day before the opening ceremonies, with a match against Mexico. The squad also plays Morocco Aug. 9 and Kazakhstan Aug. 11.

Osborne was added to the team because of his experience and will help mentor the younger players.

"We are extremely proud of Jason," Gardner-Webb head men's soccer coach said. "Our team will miss him during preseason practice, but it is an opportunity that Jason could not pass up. We are extremely excited for him."

The Bulldogs have a preseason exhibition at Appalachian State on Aug. 25 before beginning the 2007 at High Point on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m.
