Former Gardner-Webb Standout Joins Bulldog Coaching Staff
August 29, 2007 | Softball
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. Head softball coach Tom Cole, in conjunction with the Gardner-Webb athletics department, has announced the hiring of Stacie Reichert to the coaching staff.
"I am very excited about Stacie Reichert returning to the Gardner-Webb softball program," Cole said. "She had a record-setting career at Gardner-Webb, as can be attested by the records she still owns. Also, she was a team leader who was well respected and liked by all of her teammates."
Reichert, a standout pitcher for Cole from 2002-05, will work with an already talented pitching squad that allowed just 3.19 earned runs per game a season ago. During her playing days, she earned all-conference honors and was named to the NCCSIA all-state team.
Reichert topped multiple single-season and career categories for
the Bulldogs during her playing days. Upon her graduation, she was
the single-season leader in wins, complete games, innings pitched,
strikeouts, ERA and shutouts.
She also topped the school's record book for career wins, saves,
complete games, innings pitched, strikeouts, strikeouts per seven
innings, ERA and shutouts.
Reichert still holds the career records for wins (45), saves (7), complete games (63), innings pitched (702.2), strikeouts (538), ERA (2.07) and shutouts (12).
"Her work ethic as a player was second to none and she brings this same work ethic back to the program," Cole said. "Her ability to teach and communicate with our pitchers will be another tremendous asset that is just part of Stacie Reichert. I am extremely happy that she has returned to the Gardner-Webb program."
In May, she received her master's in human performance from
Frostburg State.
