The Bulldogs Begin A-Sun Conference Play This Weekend!

The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team hits the road to begin A-Sun
Conference Play this weekend. The Bulldogs will face not one, but
two conference foes in their trip to Jacksonville. Gardner-Webb's
conference opener will come against Jacksonville University this
Friday, and then the Bulldogs will stay in town to face North
Florida on Sunday.
The trip is beneficial for the Bulldogs in that they can take out
two birds with one stone so to speak. The team will travel down
Thursday in preparation to start the conference off right with two
wins in the same city. Jacksonville and North Florida should prove
to be good matchups for the Bulldogs. Although Gardner-Webb doesn't
have a stellar record as of yet, it has faced very challenging
teams in non-conference play. The Bulldogs should turn things
around this weekend when they will face two teams with a combined
record of 3-7-1.
Despite the record, Gardner-Webb knows these two teams will not be
pushovers. Jacksonville Univeristy is coming off a big win against
UAB, and it's starting goalie, Joey Sanchez, just came back from
injury and was named last week's A-sun defensive player of the
week. Also, North Florida has had some tight games in its short
season so far, and the Ospreys will be looking to make a name for
themselves in the A-Sun this season.
Eventhough the Bulldogs had a tough start to their season; it has
prepared them for conference play. Everyone in the conference is
aiming at them because they are the defending conference tournament
champions. The Bulldogs have endured their tough non-conference
schedule and will now look to make a statement in the A-Sun.
