
Gardner-Webb Places 15th At Larry Nelson Collegiate Invitational

BRASELTON, Ga. The Gardner-Webb women's golf team posted a 15th-place finish in the extremely tough 17-team field at the Larry Nelson Collegiate Invitational, which was hosted by conference foe Kennesaw State.
UT-Chattanooga took top honors for the tournament, shooting a +76, 928 total, which was just three shots better than second-place finisher South Alabama.
GWU combined to shoot a +139, 991 for the tournament. After opening with a team score of 340 for the first 18 holes, the squad bounced back, notching a 318 over the next round. GWU finished the last round with a 333.
The Bulldogs were led by Courtney Meyer's +23, 236. Meyer garnered a tie for 17th in the field. She posted an opening-round 82 before coming through with back-to-back rounds in the 70's. Meyer recorded a 79-75 over the final two rounds.
Katie Garahan was the team's next best finisher for the tournament. Garahan posted a +37, 250. She opened up with an 88 before shooting back-to-back 81's for her 55th-place finish.
Yayoi Garcia posted a +40, 253 and finished four spots behind Garhan. Her best round of the tournament was a second-round 78.
Dana Prozeller tied for 65th (+41, 254) while teammate Mackenzie Renner's +48 (261) put her in a tie for 71st.
The Bulldogs return to action on Apr. 9, when they partake in
the University Cup. The event is an all day affair that is to be
hosted by the Mimosa Hills CC in Morganton, N.C.
