Daane Posts Solid Mark At NCAA East Region

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior Caryn Daane, competing in her first NCAA East Region competition, recorded a solid effort in the shot put Saturday afternoon.
Daane made sure to get a mark with her first attempt of the day, recording a heave of 12.73m (41'9.25"). Daane was unable to tally another effort as she fouled on the next two attempts of the meet. However, her toss was still good enough for 31st overall.
She ended up just a matter of inches behind Georgia's Rachel Travis and garnered tremendous experience for next year as the Bulldogs head into the Big South. It will also help her as Daane now understands what it will take to compete well at the prestigious meet.
Daane was the last of four GWU student-athletes to compete at the NCAA East Region meet. She, along with Carrie Long (pole vault) will contend for spots at the meet next year. Elizabeth Maxwell (discus) and Jerel Langley (javelin) ended their collegiate careers at the meet.
