Bridges Picks Up A-Sun Weekly Honor

MACON, Ga. - Junior Kelly Bridges picked up Atlantic Sun Conference Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon, for her school-record setting performance in the pole vault at the Liberty Twilight Meet a week ago.
Bridges took third in the event after clearing 3.66m (12') to better a school record that she already held. Bridges, a junior, now has the top mark int he Atlantic Sun Conference this season as the Bulldogs now have the top-two heights in the event (rookie Carrie Long is second).
The athletic training major picked up the last A-Sun weekly honor that a track and field athlete can ever win at GWU as the Bulldogs move into the Big South Conference prior to the start of the 2008-09 academic year.
Bridges and the rest of the GWU team will continue to concentrate on finals before heading to the A-Sun Championship in Clemson, S.C., next week. he championship will take place May 16-17.
