Wilson Takes 47th In 200m Free

OMAHA, Neb. – Former Gardner-Webb All-American swimmer Terra Wilson touched the wall in 2:02.02 in the 200m free event, which was good enough for 47th place at the U.S. Olympic Trials, which is being held in Omaha, Neb.
Wilson finished the first 50m in 28.13 and made the turn at the 100m split in 58.45. At the 150m mark, Wilson touched the wall in 1:29.96, which had her among the top 20 competitors at the meet. However, she swam the final 50m in 32.06, which gave her the time of 2:02.02. She finished fourth in her heat.
Wilson will have two days to recover and prepare for the 100m free preliminary round, which takes place Thursday July 3. Earlier in the year at the Charlotte UltraSwim Meet, Wilson touched the wall in a personal-best time of 55.83.
During her time as a member of the GWU swim team, Wilson earned All-America honors in the 200m free in 2007. That same season, she picked up honorable-mention All-America accolades in the 100 free. In 2006, Wilson also earned honorable-mention All-America honors in the 200 free.
