GWU Men's And Women's Programs Honored By USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Head coach Brian Baker's men's and women's track and field team were each honored as one of the 2008 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track and Field Teams.
In all, 117 Division I women's track and field programs were recognized while 48 men's programs were honored.
The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the Division I Indoor and/or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA.
To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 team cumulative grade-point average.
Baker's Bulldogs, which moved from the Atlantic Sun Conference to the Big South Conference on July 1, 2008, solidified their mark as one of the top academic programs in the country.
The GWU women's team combined for a 3.346 GPA, which was good enough for 26th best on the list. Only one A-Sun team bettered the Bulldogs' ranking and no Big South team was ahead of GWU.
The men's team was 45th on the list with a 3.009 GPA. Only one
other A-Sun team bested GWU on the list. The only other Big South
squad on the list was High Point, which was 47th with a 3.002
GPA.
