
Reimer's Goal Leads Gardner-Webb To 1-0 Victory Over Charleston Southern in Regular Season Finale

CHARLESTON, SC- In what was the final regular season match of the 2009 season, the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers by a 1-0 score Saturday evening at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C.
Gardner-Webb jumped to the early lead in the 16th minute when sophomore Megan Reimer was able to get a shot past CSU senior goalkeeper Jena Lalich following a crossing pass from senior Kasey Gladhill, who was awarded the assist. The Hamilton, Ohio native leads the team with goals (9) and points (18), and ranks third overall in goals and points in the Big South Conference.
Freshman Samantha Rupert once again had another brilliant game in goal, earning nine saves throughout the evening, preventing the Buccaneer offensive from scoring throughout the entire match.
Gardner-Webb improves to 12-8-0 overall and 6-3 in Big South Conference play, while Charleston Southern falls to 12-5-2 overall and 5-2-2 in conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action next week as part of the 2009 Big South Women's Soccer Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting, which will also take place at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. The tournament will last from November 5th to November 8th, with opponents and times to be determined.
