November 14, 2009 | Men's Soccer
Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb junior goalkeeper Trent Kozman was named the 2009 Big South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer announced today by the League office.
Kozman played in and started all 16 regular season matches in goal
for the Bulldogs this season. Seeing his first significant action
of his career, Kozman responded by posting seven wins on the
season, three of which were shutouts. Kozman picked up 53 saves and
posted a 1.69 goals allowed average in 1382:06 minutes of action.
The junior from Granville, Ohio, also posted a .671 saves
percentage on the season. His seven wins were the most by a GWU
goalkeeper in one season since former keeper Tyler Kettering had
nine wins in 2006. Kozman has a perfect 4.0 grade point average as
he is working toward his degree in mathematics.
With the award, Kozman was also named to the 2009 Big South
Conference All-Academic Team.
