Lady Netters Overcome by Charleston Southern, 6-1, in Big South Action

The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team was only able to claim one
win on Tuesday afternoon as Charleston Southern defeated the Lady
Bulldogs, 6-1. The loss marks the third straight by a 6-1 margin
and drops the ‘Dogs to 1-5 in the Big South.
It was a rough start for the Lady Bulldogs in doubles competition
as they fell in all three positions to the Buccaneers.
Gardner-Webb's number one and two squads fell 8-4, while its number
three went down 8-6.
The Lady Bulldogs tried turning it around in singles competition,
but were unable to do so, falling in five of the six matches to the
Buccaneers.
The only win for the ‘Dogs came at the fourth position with
senior Amy Beavers rebounding in the second and third sets to take
a 3-6, 6-4, 10-2 victory. The win boosts Beavers to second on the
team in wins with 10, one behind doubles partner Kasey Ellis.
The Lady Netters will have a few days to recover before hitting the
road again, this time traveling to Boone, N.C. where they will face
Appalachian State on Sat., March 28 at 1 PM.
