Diamond 'Dogs Fall At #19 Coastal Carolina, 10-4, Sunday

CONWAY, S.C. – No. 19 Coastal Carolina bolted to a 5-0 lead
after four innings, and used a four-run sixth inning to cap a 10-4
win over Gardner-Webb Sunday in the final game of a three-game
league series.
Gardner-Webb (14-13, 4-5 Big South) plated a single run in the
fifth and three runs in the eighth – with pinch hitter Adam
McFarland's two-run double the big blow.
GWU managed just three hits in the game, however, its lowest
offensive total for the year. Justin Loyd (1-for-4), McFarland and
Kurt Fulginiti (1-for-4) had hits for the ‘Dogs.
Coastal Carolina starter Adam Meo (4-0) allowed just one hit over
7.0 innings of work for the win. T.J. Swank and Nick McCully closed
out the game for the Chants (24-7, 6-2 Big South).
Taylor Motter led the Chants ‘ offense with three hits in four
at bats. Adam Rice drove in three runs with two hits – as
Coastal collected 12 hits on the day.
Devin Campbell started on the mound for GWU and took the loss,
scattering eight hits and allowing five earned runs over 5.1
innings of work.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on the road Tuesday at Virginia Tech
(5:30 pm).
