Seniors Wyszynski and Bridges Set School Records at the Solid Orange Classic at Clemson University

Clemson, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's and women's outdoor track and field teams were led by seniors Sarah Wyszynski, who set a new school record in the javelin throw, and Kelly Bridges who tied the school record in the pole vault event, as the Bulldogs picked up nine top-10 finishes over the weekend.
On the women's side of the track meet, the Bulldogs seniors combined to pick up four top-five finishes. Wyszynski finished third-place overall in the javelin throw with a school-record heave of 42.19 meters, while in the women's pole vault event Bridges took fourth-place as she cleared the bar at 3.70 meters, tying the current school record.
In the distance events, senior Beth Long took fourth-place in the 800 meter run with her time of 1:56.78, while fellow senior Bree Tharpe finished fifth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:07.97.
On the men's side, senior Jake Didion picked up a third-place finish in the men's triple jump event with a leap of 14.74 meters.
Freshman Nick Kelly picked up a second-place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:00.53, while redshirt-freshman Christoph Hutschalik took second-place in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.75 meters.
Junior Paul Steinke finished sixth overall in the 400 meter dash with a finals time of 49.50, while sophomore Jason Wenzel finished eighth in the 800 meter run with his time of 1:56.78. Steinke also finished 15th-place in the 200 meter dash with his time of 22.48.
The men's and women's track and field teams will next compete on May 15-16 at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
