GWU's Brusich Takes Third With a New School Record in Men's Decathlon at 2009 Deacon Combined Events Classic

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Gardner-Webb sophomore Evan Brusich set a new school record in the men's decathlon at the 2009 Deacon Combined Events Classic hosted by Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. on May 12 and 13.
Brusich picked up a third-place overall finish with a GWU record 6538 points in the men's decathlon over the two day event.
The sophomore from Lilburn, Ga., picked up four top-five finishes and six personal bests over the 10-events, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 1500 meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:29.68. Brusich finished fourth overall in the 100 meter dash with his time of 11.02 and in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.57. Brusich also picked up fifth-place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.68.
Brusich also finished in sixth in the pole vault (3.92 meters), seventh in both the long jump (6.59 meters) and in the discus throw (31.46 meters), eighth in the high jump (1.83 meters) and ninth in both the shot put (9.67 meters) and in the javelin throw (36.98 meters).
