Lady Bulldogs Fall To East Carolina 4-0

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The East Carolina Pirates went up by a score of 2-0 early in the first half, and the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team was unable to catch up as they fell to the Pirates by a final score of 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Greene-Harbison Field.
The Pirates (2-0-0) scored in the 12th minute of the match as sophomore Amanda Malkiewicz was able to put a shot past GWU freshman goalkeeper Samantha Rupert, and junior Bailey Wilcox was able to score in the 23rd minute.
ECU freshman Kimmy Cummings led the way for the Pirates, scoring two goals in the second period, while sophomore Leah Bagonis had two assists on the day.
The Lady Bulldogs (0-3-0) were able to put five shots on goal throughout the match, but were unable to find the back of the net. Sophomore Tina Frost led the offensive charge, having two shots on goal, while junior Sarah Keyser and sophomores Megan Tremblay and Dawn Rollyson each had one.
Gardner-Webb was able to put a shot past the Pirates goalkeeper, but it was waived off due to an offsides penalty.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, September 5th as they host The Citadel. The match is scheduled to take place at 2:00 p.m.
