Lady Bulldogs Defeat South Carolina State 1-0 in Border Classic Finale

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- In what was another physical match for the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team, the Lady Bulldogs were able to defeat South Carolina State by a score of 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Greene-Harbison Field to close out the Border Classic, presented by Under Armour.
Gardner-Webb (4-4-0) dominated play throughout the match, outshooting SC State (2-4-0) by a margin of 17 to 2, and controlled the ball throughout most of the match. The Lady Bulldogs received a break when SC State senior Janine Francois received a red card in the 31st minute, giving the team a one-person advantagee
In the 37th minute of play, Gardner-Webb sophomore Dawn Rollyson was able to take advantage of the situation, scoring the lone goal of the match after receiving a pass from sophomore Stephanie Benshoof.
This was the final match in the Border Classic, which also included tournament champion Chattanooga and USC-Upstate.
