Reimer Scores Twice As Bulldogs Take Down Citadel 3-0

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb sophomore Megan Reimer was able to find of the back of the net twice Saturday afternoon as the Lady Bulldogs were able to shut out the Citadel by a score of 3-0 at Greene-Harbison Field.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-3-0) were able to strike within the 2nd minute of the match as Reimer was able to put a shot over Citadel's goalkeeper off of a pass from sophomore Megan Tremblay.
The Citadel (2-1-0) was able to hold off the Lady Bulldog's charge for the remainder of the first half, until Reimer found the back of the net again early in the second half as she blasted a shot past Citadel goalkeeper sophomore Whitney Nave 25 yards from the goal.
Gardner-Webb was able to score again late in the second half as sophomore Paige Reagan scored off of a pass from junior Melissa Battista.
Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Rupert had another great performance in goal for the Lady Bulldogs as she was able to keep Citadel from putting a goal on the scoreboard, recording two saves along the way.
Gardner-Webb Head Coach Kevin Mounce was pleased with his team's effort in today's match. "We made some adjustments and shown some improvement over the last few matches. I'm pleased with the effort the team showed today versus Citadel, but we still need to make some improvements as we face another tough opponent in Campbell this Monday night."
The Lady Bulldogs return to action this Monday evening as they host the Campbell Fighting Camels. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Greene- Harbison Field.
