
GWU Softball Tabbed as a NFCA All-Academic Team

Starkville, Miss. - The 2010 Gardner-Webb softball team was rewarded for its hard work in the classroom, as the Runnin' Bulldogs were recognized this week as a 2010 girls got game/NFCA Division I All-Academic Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Last year, the Runnin' Bulldogs posted a team grade point average of 3.354 which ranked 30th in the nation overall among all NCAA Division I softball programs.
Gardner-Webb also had eight student-athletes tabbed as NFCA Scholar-Athletes in Alison Coffey, Christa Fullwood, Cindy Boomhower, Jane Savage, Kelly Montgomery, Melody Harrell, Morgan Baker and Presley Wesson.
Head Coach Tom Cole's squad also placed 15 members on the 2010 Big South Presidential Honor Roll in 2009-10.
The girls got game Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs for the 2009-2010 academic year. As a second component of the program, all submitted student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA during last academic year are named as girls got game/NFCA Scholar Athletes.
