
New Records Set at 2010 Georgia Tech Fall Invitational by Gardner-Webb Women's Swimming

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Gardner-Webb women's swim team competed in the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational this past weekend, taking on swimmers from Texas A&M, Florida State, Florida, Miami (Fla.), North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida Gulf Coast, Michigan State, Florida Atlantic, U.S. Air Force Academy, and Auburn. The Runnin' Bulldogs placed in 11th with 136 total points for the three-day meet.
Two new Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) and GWU team records were set by sophomore Kim Zachensky in the 100 yard and 200 yard breaststroke events. She finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke event, timing in at 1:01.99, and finished fourth in the 200 yard breastrstroke event with a time of 2:14.72. Her times also rank in the top-30 for each event nationally, ranking 26th in the 100 yard breaststroke and 27th in the 200 yard breaststroke.
Also earning spots in the finals were Sarah Steadman, who timed in at 57.91 in the 100 yard backstroke, Elizabeth Ketterer and Kristen Michal in the 1650 yard freestyle with times of 17:40.34 and 17:48.55 respectively, and Samantha Shelley in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.28.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on December 2nd as they participate in the Short Course Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. The event will take place from December 2nd-4th.
