
Gardner-Webb Women's Swimming Downs Marshall 123-66

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Gardner-Webb women's swim team faced Marshall Friday evening, timing in fastest in nine of eleven events to earn a 123-66 win, setting three pool records in the process at Cy Twombly Pool, located on the campus of Washington and Lee University.
The Runnin' Bulldogs began the evening by touching the wall first in the 400 yard medley relay, where the team of Sarah Steadman, Kim Zachensky, Elizabeth Charter, and Liz Van Halsema timed in at 4:02.41 to take first place.
Faith Kempf timed in at 10:59.51 to claim first in the 1000 yard freestyle, Charter timed in at 2:00.78 to claim victory in the 200 yard freestyle, and Anna Springer touched the wall at 24.78 to win the 50 yard freestyle events.
In the 400 yard IM event, Samantha Shelley timed in at 4:39.38 to take first place and set a new pool record in the process. Elizabeth Ketterer earned the win in the 100 yard freestyle, timing in at 54.76.
Victoria Bryant placed first in the 200 yard backstroke event, touching the wall at 2:09.22. The time was good enough to set a new pool record for the event.
Kim Zachensky had the fastest time in the 200 yard breaststroke event, timing in at 2:26.57.
The Runnin' Bulldogs set another new pool record in the final event of the evening, the 400 yard freestyle relay, where the team of Sarah Steadman, Liz Van Halsema, Elizabeth Ketterer, and Anna Springer timed in at 3:43.27.
Gardner-Webb quickly turns around to face Liberty tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 PM in Lynchburg, Va.
