
GWU's Fullwood Named to NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team

Starkville, Miss. - Gardner-Webb senior first-baseman Christa Fullwood was named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Fullwood, who was a First-Team All-Big South selection and named to
the Big South All-Academic Team for the second straight season this
year, led GWU in batting average (.389), runs (38), hits (61),
doubles (11), RBIs (47), total bases (106), slugging percentage
(.675), on-base percentage (.473), walks (27) and fielding
percentage (.992). Fullwood was also tied for the team lead in
home runs (10) and triples with (2). The Wilmington, N.C. native,
was first in the conference in on-base percentage (.473) and second
in the Big South in batting average (.389) and in RBIs (47). A
finalist for the Lowes Senior Class Award earlier this season,
Fullwood was third in the Big South in walks (27) and fourth in
slugging percentage (.675).
The NFCA All-Region Teams honor student-athletes from the 10 NFCA
regions. A total of 256 players from 116 different institutions
comprise this season's regional teams, including first and second
teams for each region.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each
region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to
the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third
teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not
selected to the regional teams were added for All-America
consideration.
The NFCA Division I All-American teams will be announced at 4 p.m.
CDT on Wednesday, June 2.
