
GWU Women's Golf Wins Team Title at Winthrop University Intercollegiate

Rock Hill, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team won the team championship this weekend at the Winthrop University Intercollegiate, taking first-place overall on the team leader board with a two-day combined team score of 615, +39, at the Rock Hill Country Club (par 72, 6,007 yards) in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs posted rounds of 307 and 308 to finish with a two-round score of 615, five strokes ahead of second-place finisher and host Winthrop University.
Reigning Big South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Meghan Allum finished in a tie for second-place overall with fellow teammate Sammy Vass. Allum carded rounds of 78 and 72 to finish the event with a combined score of 150, +6, while Vass did just the opposite, turning in rounds of 72 and 78 to record her tournament score of 150, +6.
Fellow junior Hannah Hellyer also posted a top-10 finish, as she recorded rounds of 77 and 78 to finish tied for ninth-place overall with a combined score of 155, +11.
Rounding out the scoring for Gardner-Webb was junior Lauren Smith and senior Courtney Finocchiaro who both finished tied for 20th-place overall with each posting a two-round combined score of 161, +17.
Also playing from Gardner-Webb as individuals at the two-day event was Pilar Morgan, Brianna Clemmons and Haleigh Petersen.
Morgan, who posted two rounds of 84, finished tied for 32nd overall with a score of 168, +24, while Clemmons and Petersen finished in 37th and 38th, respectively, with scores of 174, +30, and 176, +32.
The GWU lady golfers, who have posted three top-five team finishes thus far this season, will return to the links in one week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete at the Wendy's Intercollegiate in Charleston, S.C. on October 17-18th.
