
Gardner-Webb Sits In Fourth After Day One of the Wingate Fall Frenzy

Charlotte, N.C. - After the first night of competition at the Wingate Fall Frenzy invitational meet, Gardner-Webb sits in fifth place overall.
Sam Wilson led the Runnin' Bulldogs in the 1650 FR, the only individual event of the evening. The sophomore from New Bern, N.C. finished 9th in a time of 16:27.45. Next for GWU was senior Derek Gore, who finished 16th in 16:51.44. Sophomore Tyler Nuss finished 18th for Gardner-Webb in a time of 17:00.74.
Gardner-Webb's A 800 FR relay team finished fifth, as the quartet of Samuel Woods, Wilson, Nuss, and Mitchell Turner combined to finish in 7:07.65. GWU's B team (Phil Leonard, Zack Edgar, Taft Kallam, and Jordan Denmark) came in 9th with a time of 7:12.54, followed by Gardner-Webb's B team (Christopher Musco, Cody Meyers, Will Payne, and Gore) who finished 12th in 7:19.50.
Gardner-Webb finished the night in fourth place, trailing College of Charleston, Queens, and Wingate with two full days of competition remaining.
Action will resume tomorrow morning with prelims set to begin at 10 am. Saturday's finals session is slated to start at 6 pm. Results will be available following the session at Wingate's official athletic website www.wingatebulldogs.com.
