
GWU's Bell Remains in the Top-Three After Day Two of the 51st North Carolina Amateur Championship

Greensboro, N.C. - Gardner-Webb graduate and assistant golf coach Ryan Bell followed up his first round 64, -8 under par, on Thursday with a second round 71, -1 under par, on Friday to put himself in third-place overall after two rounds at the 51st North Carolina Amateur Championship at Greensboro Country Club's Farm Course in Greensboro, N.C.
Bell's two-round combined score of 135, -9 under par, is three strokes behind current leader Ryan Gioffre of Greensboro, N.C. who is at 132, -12 under par, and only one stroke behind golfer Justin Clement of Lexington, N.C. who is in second-place overall with a two-day combined score of 134, -10 under par.
GWU signee Matt Yelverton of Matthews, N.C. joined Bell as one of only 63 golfers to make the cut at 146, +2 over par, and will compete this weekend. Yelverton followed up his 72, even par, first round on Thursday with a 72, even par, second round on Friday to find himself in a tie for 40th-place overall at 144, even par.
The North Carolina Amateur Championship, which is one of 35 championships conducted by the 102 year-old Carolina's Golf Association, will continue over the weekend at the par 72, 7,223 yard course, at the Greensboro Country Club.
