Gardner-Webb Announces 2011-2012 Women's Swimming Schedule

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's swimming program has finalized its schedule for the 2011-12 competition season. GWU's season is highlighted by four home meets as well as away meets stretching across four states in preparation for the 2011-12 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championships at season's end.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will open the season September 17 with an open water meet in Moss Lake, N.C. GWU will follow with a road contest in an early season bout against the University of North Carolina - Wilmington on October 15, the team's second consecutive trip to Wilmington, N.C.

Gardner-Webb will open its home season October 29 at 10 a.m against new swimming program Queens University. GWU continues its home slate November 5 in a meet against conference opponents Campbell University, Virginia Military Institute, and North Carolina A&T. The meet, GWU's conference opener, will begin at 1 pm.

Gardner-Webb will be back in the pool November 18-20 for its midseason taper meets. The GWU women will compete at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga. and the Wingate Fall Frenzy in Charlotte, N.C. in preparation for the crucial meets in the upcoming months.

Following USS Nationals (LC) in Atlanta, Ga. on December 1-3, GWU will commence its annual winter training trip December 29 - January 7 in Sarasota, Fla. GWU will follow their training trip with a return to competition on January 8 against Darton College in Statesboro, Ga. at 12 pm.

GWU will face one final road test prior to the CCSA championships against conference rival Davidson College on January 21 in Davidson, N.C. The GWU women wrap up their dual meet season with back-to-back home meets against conference opponents Liberty University and College of Charleston January 27-28.

Gardner-Webb will close its 2011-12 regular season at the CCSA Championships February 16-18 at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

The Women's NCAA Championships will take place in Auburn, Ala. March 15-17, 2012.
