
Gardner-Webb's Giorgie Graves Named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) - After her performance at the season-opening All-N.C. Invitational, which included an individual win in the 100 fly, Gardner-Webb freshman Giorgie Graves has been selected as the CCSA's Women's Swimmer of the Week, for meets completed Oct. 1-7, the League announced today.
The honor comes on the heels of a standout weekend for the freshman from Riverview, Fla. At the All-N.C. Invitational, Graves' performance helped Gardner-Webb earn fifth place in the team standings. Graves won the 100-yard fly with a time of 57.46 and finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.77. She also placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:55.56.
Additionally, Graves was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay that placed sixth at 1:39.11, the 400-yard medley relay that placed fifth at 3:58.24,
The freshman added to her standout college debut in the 200-yard medley relay, swimming the fly leg for a relay that finished fifth at 1:48.53. Graves wrapped up her weekend as a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay that earned fifth with a time of 3:36.49.
Gardner-Webb's women's and men's swim teams are back in action next weekend, October 19-20 when the Runnin' Bulldogs participate in the VMI Relay Meet (Lexington, Va.) on Friday and the Virginia Tech Sprint Invite (Christiansburg, Va.) on Saturday.
