Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb volleyball team will host its "Senior Night" on Friday night, November 2nd, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will wrap up its regular season home slate this weekend versus Winthrop and Presbyterian in two key Big South Conference contests.
Gardner-Webb (9-18, 4-6 Big South) split in its two road bouts last week, defeating Campbell 3-0 and then suffering a 3-1 loss to High Point the following day.
Junior Erin Anderson, who posted double digit kills to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs in both contests, was named the Big South Player of the Week as she tallied a career-high 21 kills in the loss to High Point.
Behind Anderson's double digit kills, fellow junior Tyler Cockrell also posted double digit kills in each match as well, as freshman libero Anna Pashkova registered double digit digs in each contest as well.
Gardner-Webb struggled in the month of October this season, as the Runnin' Bulldogs were 2-5 overall for the month.
On Friday night, "Senior Night", GWU will return home to host the Winthrop Lady Eagles at 7 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
In the two teams' previous meeting earlier this season, Winthrop swept the Runnin' Bulldogs in straight sets in Rock Hill, S.C., dropping GWU to 2-16 versus the Lady Eagles since 2000.
Since defeating GWU 3-0 back on October 6 in Rock Hill, S.C., the Lady Eagles of Winthrop (12-14, 6-5 Big South) have gone 4-3 and are coming off a 3-0 win over Charleston Southern last Saturday afternoon.
Winthrop has six players with over 100 kills on the season, including Jennica Mullins who has a team-high 231 kills on the year.
GWU's final home contest will take place on Saturday evening at 5 p.m., as the Runnin' Bulldogs will host Presbyterian College.
The Lady Blue Hose (11-15, 8-3 Big South) have won three straight matches and nine of its last 12 contests.
Since defeating GWU on October 5th, Presbyterian is 6-2 with all six wins coming in Big South Conference play.
