GWU Men's Soccer Set for Two Conference Road Matches This Week

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team will look to keep its current winning streak alive this week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs are slated for two tough road contests at UNC Asheville and at High Point.
The Runnin' Bulldogs, who have won its last two matches, are 2-8-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Big South play heading into action this week.
However, both of GWU's wins have come at home, as the Runnin' Bulldogs have struggled on the road and are winless at 0-5-1 in true road contests this season.
The first road contest of the week will be at UNC Asheville on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. against the Bulldogs.
While, the overall series between the two teams is tied at 7-7-1 all-time, GWU has won the last three meetings versus UNCA.
The Bulldogs of Asheville have lost 11 straight matches after opening the year up with a 5-0 win over Brevard and has been out scored 32-9 on the season, including having been shutout eight times on the year.
On Saturday night, the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on its fourth nationally ranked opponent of the season, as GWU will do battle with the No. 23 nationally ranked High Point Panthers at 7:30 p.m. in High Point, N.C.
GWU is 1-5-3 all-time versus High Point with the win coming last season at home, 2-0, on Oct. 22nd. In fact, GWU went 1-0-1 last season versus High Point and advanced past the Panthers in a PK shootout in the semifinals of the 2011 Big South Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.
The Panthers are undefeated thus far this season, entering play this week at 10-0-1 overall. HPU, who will take on Virginia on Tuesday night, Oct. 9th, won nine straight games to start the season, before playing VMI to a 0-0 scoreless draw on Oct. 3rd.
