
Gardner-Webb's Alice Hopkins Earns Big South Freshman of the Week Honors

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Alice Hopkins (Birmingham, England) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played April 2-8, it was announced today by the League office.
Hopkins went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 1-0 at No. 2 doubles to help the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 2-0 record last week. She scored a crucial three-set victory over Natsuko Takayanagi at Charlotte, helping Gardner-Webb knock off the 49ers, 4-3. Hopkins also teamed up with Yasmin Doost for a doubles victory at Charlotte, winning 8-3. In the 4-0 win over UNC Asheville, Hopkins earned a singles win against Amryn Solider, 6-3, 6-0.
It is the second time this season that Hopkins (19-2 in singles play this season) has earned the Big South honor, having been named Freshman of the Week in mid-February.
Gardner-Webb competes in the Big South Tournament April 19-21 in Asheville, N.C.
