Gardner-Webb Men's Tennis Falls at Campbell, 5-2, Wednesday

Buies Creek, N.C. - GWU got singles wins from a pair of freshmen Wednesday, but were unable to knock off host Campbell.
Gardner-Webb moves to 6-14 (0-5) with the loss.
Campbell (9-10, 4-3) jumped to a 1-0 lead with wins at No.'s 2 and 3 doubles. The Runnin' Bulldogs received a doubles win at the No. 1 position, as Adam Knutsson-Sundblad and Korhan Ates teamed up for an 8-5 win over the Camels' Adrien Rossignon/Josep Baro.
In singles play, GWU's rally attempt was thwarted by an aggressive Campbell effort which took the first set in five of the six positions.
Freshman Brendan Dempsey (Dublin, Ireland) claimed his 12th singles win of the season, taking a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 6 over August Iwdal. Dempsey leads the team in singles wins and singles winning percentage this season.
Battling back for a win at No. 4 was freshman Ernest Alberch (Torrello, Spain), earning a 1-6, 7-6, 10-7 win against Baro. Wednesday's singles win marked Alberch's 7th on the year.
Gardner-Webb wraps up its regular season with a home match against Coastal Carolina on Sunday, April 15. A start time has yet to be determined.
