Gardner-Webb's Roman Piftor Earns Big South All-Academic Honors

Charlotte, N.C. - Runnin' Bulldog junior Roman Piftor earned a spot on the Big South Conference's Men's Tennis All-Academic Team, it was announced this evening at the awards ceremony held at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Piftor (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), a proven example of a true student-athlete, went 11-10 in singles play this season for Coach Mike Griffith's Runnin' Bulldog squad, holding down the No. 4 singles position with an 8-4 record on the year. An athletic training major, Piftor's 11 singles wins marked the second highest total on the team this season.
Gardner-Webb, the No. 8 seed for the upcoming Big South Tournament, takes on No. 1 Radford tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. in the Big South Championships' first round.
