
GWU Volleyball Set for Back-to-Back Road Contests at Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina This Week

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb volleyball team is riding a two-match winning streak into play this week, as the Runnin' Bulldogs are slated to play back-to-back road matches at Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina in Big South action on Thursday and Friday.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will take on Charleston Southern on Thursday night, October 24th, at 7 p.m., before turning around to face off with Coastal Carolina the very next night, Friday, October 25th, at 7 p.m. in Conway, S.C.
Gardner-Webb improved to 13-11 overall and 4-2 in the Big South with wins over North Carolina A&T and UNC Asheville last week.
GWU's 13 total wins this season is the most wins in a single season since GWU posted 14 wins in 2007 and 2006.
In GWU's 3-1 win over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday night, the Runnin' Bulldogs finished its non-conference slate at 9-9 overall.
Gardner-Webb erased a 2-0 match deficit at home on Friday night against UNC Asheville to win three straight sets and defeat the Bulldogs 3-2 last time out.
With the 3-2 win over Asheville, all four of GWU's Big South Conference wins have come at 3-2 in five set matches, which put GWU at 4-2 on the year in five set contests this season giving the Runnin' Bulldogs the most five set wins in a single season in its 14-year Division I history.
Last week, a number of players reached career milestones this week, as setter Heather Feldman recorded her 3,000th career assist in the win over N.C. A&T on Tuesday night, while Erin Anderson picked up her 500th career dig and Emily Holte totaled her 100th career block in the win over Asheville on Friday night.
Gardner-Webb's Anna Pashkova set a new single match record for the Runnin' Bulldogs on Tuesday night, as the libero's 31 digs was the most by a single player in a four-set match in GWU's Division I history.
Charleston Southern is 5-17 overall and 0-7 in Big South play under first year head coach Christy Mooberry. The Bucs have loss 10 straight matches heading to play this week and is only 1-3 at home thus far this year.
Charleston Southern has four players with over 100 kills on the season led by Katrina Houston's 177 kills and Erin Lavenice's 142 kills, while setter Cassidy Greer has dished out 536 assists on the year and Maggie Murphy leads the team with 219 digs.
Coastal Carolina enters play this week at 11-9 overall and 4-3 in Big South play. The Lady Chanticleers have won three of its last four matches, but are coming off a 3-0 loss at Liberty on October 19th.
Coastal Carolina is 3-3 at home this season in The HTC Center with wins over Wofford, Campbell and Charleston Southern.
Gabriella Horvath leads the Chants with 202 kills on the season, while both Kindra Bailey and Lian Bernett have both tallied 193 kills on the year.
