Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb head baseball coach Rusty Stroupe is excited to announce that the Runnin' Bulldogs will host the Czech Republic National Baseball Team for a nine-inning exhibition game at John Henry Moss Stadium at Bill Master's Field on Sunday afternoon, October 6th, at 3 p.m.
The Czech Republic National Baseball Team, which is the same team that is attempting to qualify for the upcoming World Baseball Classic, is on a USA Tour, which runs from October 3-15. The Czech Republic team is scheduled to play several exhibition games throughout the state of North Carolina, including contests at Duke, UNC Wilmington, N.C. State and East Carolina.
"We are tremendously honored and excited to be hosting the Czech Republic National Baseball Team," commented Coach Stroupe. "We hope that this game will help further prepare them to be competitive in the World Baseball Classic. Even though it is short notice I hope our fans will pack our stadium for this monumental event."
Admission to the exhibition contest is free and first pitch is slated for a 3 p.m. start time.
