Boiling Springs, N.C. - With a successful Indoor season behind
them, Gardner-Webb's men's and women's track & field squads
will turn their attention to the 2013 Outdoor season this weekend,
competing at the 49er Classic Thursday through Saturday.
Both the men's and women's squads achieved fourth place finishes
at 2012-13 Big South Indoor Championships February 21-22 in
Winston-Salem, N.C., seeing numerous records go down and winning
several individual Conference titles. Kristen
Hurley (Columbia, Conn.) won the women's Pentathlon, Alex Young
(LaVergne, Tenn.) set two school records and won the men's Weight
Throw, Taylor
Cook (Boone, N.C.) and Tyler Samotis (Hendersonville, N.C.)
earned All-Conference honors in the women's and men's Pole Vault
respectively, Terry
Davis (Wilson, N.C.) won the men's Triple Jump, and Ivana
Hughes (Evans, Ga.) was the Runner-Up in the women's 800
meters.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will look to build off the momentum of a
solid Indoor season this weekend in Charlotte, N.C. The two-day
49er Classic runs March 14-16.
