
Runnin' Bulldogs to Take on Western Carolina and Winthrop This Week in Softball Action

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs will step out of conference play to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts on Wednesday in Cullowhee, N.C. before hosting the Winthrop Eagles for a three-game weekend conference series this weekend at Varsity Field in Boiling Springs, N.C.
GAME TIMES
Gardner-Webb will take on the Catamounts of Western Carolina in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday evening, April 3rd, at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in Cullowhee, N.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will then return home to host the Winthrop Eagles in a Big South three-game series on Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7th, in Boiling Springs, N.C. The two teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then will play the final game of the three-game series on Sunday at 2 p.m.
STEPPING OUT OF THE BIG SOUTH MIDWEEK
GWU will step out of Big South Conference play on Wednesday, April 1st, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will take on Western Carolina in a twin bill in Cullowhee, N.C. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 3-11 overall in non-conference games this season and only 1-6 in non-conference games on the road.
OVER THE HUMP AND OFF THE SNIDE
With the 3-2 win last Sunday over Coastal Carolina, the Runnin' Bulldogs believe that they are "over the hump and off the snide", and will look to build on the momentum from the big walk-off win as they finish out the season.
SNAPPING STREAK IN STYLE
Gardner-Webb snapped its season-high 16-game losing streak in style last Sunday afternoon, as Morgan Baker hit a two-out walk-off RBI single to center field in the seventh inning to push GWU to a 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina.
BURNS IS ON FIREEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Gardner-Webb shortstop Savannah Burns is on fire as of late at the plate, as the sophomore hit .538 last week to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs. She was 7-of-13 overall with two doubles and a walk, while also posting a .692 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage for the week.
ON DECK FOR THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Gardner-Webb will play the next 10 games on the road with eight of those games coming in Big South Conference play. GWU will take on Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. on April 9th for a twin tilt with the first pitch slated for 2 p.m. before heading north to do battle with the Liberty Lady Flames in a three-game weekend series on April 12-13th in Lynchburg, Va.
