Jessica Childers Named The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week by the Big South

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb junior Jessica Childers has received The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week honor by the Big South Conference for games played April 8-14th, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Childers went 1-1 for the Runnin' Bulldogs last week, pitching 13.1 innings with a 1.05 ERA. Childers helped Gardner-Webb seal a 2-0 victory over Presbyterian College by pitching a complete-game shutout with just three hits and two walks. She then pitched six innings in game two of the twin bill at Liberty on Friday, holding the Lady Flames to just three runs on eight hits and one walk, while striking out two batters. On the week, she allowed 13 hits with just two earned runs while striking out four batters.
This is Childers' first Pitcher of the Week honor this season and the second of her career.
