LOOKING TO FINISH OUT STRONG AT HOME
The Runnin' Bulldogs will wrap up its 2013 regular season slate this weekend at home versus the Radford Highlanders. GWU is only 1-10 at home so far this season and will look to finish the year out strong at Varsity Field.
GETTING HOT AT THE RIGHT TIME
The Runnin' Bulldogs are getting hot at the right time, as Gardner-Webb has gone 7-3 overall over its last 10 games. GWU, who has posted two three-game winning streaks over its last 10 games, has gone 5-3 in its last eight conference showdowns.
SWINGING THE BAT WELL
Since sweeping PC in a road doubleheader back on April 9th, GWU has had six different players hit over .300 during its last 10 games. Sophomore Taylar Pridgen and freshman Jill Blank are both hitting over .400 over the last 10 games, while Savannah Burns has drove in a team-high 13 RBIs during that span.
PITCHING KEY IN GWU'S LATE SEASON RUN
It has been the GWU pitching that has been key in GWU's late season run, as over the Runnin' Bulldogs last 10 games, in which Gardner-Webb has posted a record of 7-3 overall, juniors Ashley Rhyne and Jessica Childers have combined to go 7-3 overall with seven complete games. Rhyne has gone 5-1 overall, while Childers has posted two wins and an ERA of 1.24 in her last five appearances. Fellow junior hurler Alyssa Gutierrez also tallied a save for GWU.
ON DECK FOR THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Gardner-Webb will have a week and a half off, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will next be in action on May 9th in the first round of the 2013 Big South Conference Softball Championship hosted by the Winthrop Eagles in Rock Hill, S.C. Seedings and game times are yet to be determined.
