
GWU's Alex Young and Sarah Perkins Compete at Georgia Tech Invitational

Atlanta, Ga. - Alex Young recorded a Top 10 in the men's hammer throw and Sarah Perkins placed Top 20 in the women's 400 meter hurdles over the weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Young (LaVergne, Tenn.) threw 50.06 m in the hammer throw, placing eighth overall in the event. The freshman won the event at Big South Outdoor Championships earlier this season, one of two individual Conference titles he has earned this season.
Perkins, a freshman from Gorham, Maine, ran 1:03.26 in the 400 m hurdles. Perkins' performance earned her a 19th place finish in the event.
The pair of Runnin' Bulldogs have been impressive in their first collegiate seasons. Entering the weekend, Young ranked 1st in the hammer throw (62.09 m), 2nd in the discus throw (50.53 m), and 2nd in the shot put (17.18 m), respectively, while Perkins ranked 5th in the 400 m hurdles (1:01.75) after her fifth best performance at Big South Outdoor Championships.
