Young Wraps up Weekend at NCAA East Regional, Competes in Men's Hammer Throw on Saturday

Greensboro, N.C. - Freshman Alex Young competed in his second event at the NCAA East Regional, representing Gardner-Webb Track & Field in the men's hammer throw to wrap up his first ever Regional appearance in the collegiate ranks.
In his final throw on Saturday during the men's hammer throw, the freshman tossed 51.57 m, his furthest of the competition. Young placed 42nd in the event.
Young has been a standout hurler for the Runnin' Bulldogs throughout the season. Earlier this season, Young (LaVergne, Tenn.) threw a personal best 62.09 m to win the hammer throw at 2013 Big South Championships. The individual title marked the second of Young's freshman campaign, dating back to his Big South win in the weight throw during Indoor season.
