
Alex Young Named Big South Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Gardner-Webb's Alex Young was rewarded for a historic weekend in which the sophomore reset the Runnin' Bulldog track & field record books, being named as the Big South Conference's Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the League announced on Wednesday.
Young, a sophomore from LaVergne, Tenn., posted a school-record and two podium finishes over the weekend at the JDL Invitational. He highlighted his weekend with a throw of 68' 8.0" in the weight throw to set the Gardner-Webb standard and finish second overall. The mark was a personal best and is currently ranked No. 2 all-time in the Big South. He also placed third in the shot put with a distance of 54' 5.25."
The honor marks the second this Indoor season for Young.
Gardner-Webb track & field competes at the Mountaineer Open Friday, February 7 - Saturday, February 8 in Boone, N.C.
