
Several Personal Records Fall at College of Charleston Classic Friday

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Gardner-Webb women's cross country team placed three runners in the top 25, and the men's squad put all five scorers in the top 50 en route to fifth and eighth-place finishes at the College of Charleston Classic Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The women's team placed fifth in the team standings with a strong showing top-to-bottom in the 5k, combining for 147 points to finish six points ahead of sixth-place Wofford. The men's team ran a strong race as well in the 8k, finishing seventh with 167 points.
Claire Cates (Hillsborough, N.C.) paced the women's team with a seventh-place finish, crossing the line in 19:17.0, as Gabrielle Cortese (Franklin Springs, Ga.) placed 15th with a mark of 19:37.9.
Jenna Ford (Wasilla, Alaska) finished 23rd with a time of 19:48.3, as Rachel White (King, N.C.) and Michaela Williams (Nashville, N.C.) both turned in PRs with marks of 21:16.6 and 21:24.0, respectively. Sydney Davis (Granite Falls, N.C.) came in 60th with a time of 21:33.8, while Lauren Kilpatrick (Jacksonville, Fla.) placed 64th with a PR of 21:47.6.
Christopher Lile (Waynesboro, N.C.) paced the men's squad in 26th, finishing with a personal-best 8k time of 27:46.2, as Josh Parks (Forest City, N.C.) turned in a PR of his own with a mark of 28:32 in 36th place.
Keaton Poole (Spindale, N.C.) finished just behind with a personal-best of 28:40, while Joshua Valdez (Haw River, N.C.) placed 41st with a time of 28:58. Matthew Cook (Connelly Springs, N.C.) posted a personal-best of his own, crossing the line 52nd with a time of 30:03. Marcquel Woodard (Gainesville, Ga.) placed 55th with a mark of 30:42.
Gardner-Webb returns to the course on Saturday, October 31 when the Runnin' Bulldogs line up for the Big South Conference Championships in Spartanburg, S.C.
