Cortese, Cates Wrap Up Season at NCAA Southeast Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. --- Gabrielle Cortese (Franklin Springs, Ga.) and Claire Cates (Hillsborough, N.C.) both ran well at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships on Friday to close out the season for Gardner-Webb.
Cortese beat out several Big South Conference foes in the 6k race, crossing the line in 24:01.9 – a few seconds shy of her personal-best that she set at the same race last season. Cates followed a handful of seconds behind, finishing in 24:50.8 to round out the day for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Gardner-Webb is expected to return six letter-winners from this year's squad, including rising senior Jenna Ford (Wasilla, Alaska).
