
Men's Tennis Dominates Doubles Against Presbyterian

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team took three out of the four doubles matches and went 3-3 in singles against the Blue Hose in the Gardner-Webb/Presbyterian Challenge.
The event was originally scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. start, but due to rain, the start was pushed back to mid-afternoon.
Gardner-Webb got off to a great start taking three of the four doubles matches versus the Blue Hose. Adam Schmidt and Ryan Wilson teamed up and defeated Steven Weaver and P.H. Bryoholl 8-5, Jonathan Walker and Paul Hogan won their doubles match against Diego Manzanas and Alex Lykov 9-7, and the final doubles match saw Wilson and Schmidt team up once again defeating Weaver and Will Baird, 8-5.
In singles action, the Runnin' Bulldogs won two of the first three singles matches, while PC responded taking two of the final three.
Yaroslav Prostakov and Manzanas were locked into a tight first singles match as Prostakov took the opening round set 6-4, with the second set going to Manzanas 6-4, and the third set went into a long tie-break, but ultimately it was Mansanas that came out victorious, clinching the victory with a 13-11 third set win.
Walker and Schmidt defeated Baird and Weaver in the next two matches 6-4, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively, but PC took two of the final three singles matches to even its record to 3-3 for the day. Broyhill split his two singles matches, picking up a win against Wilson 7-5, 6-3, but lost 6-4 to Adam Schmidt.
Gardner-Webb will compete in the Winthrop Invitational for its final event of the fall portion of its season.
