Lile, Clarke, & Gomez Collect Top Finishes As Wingate University Defeats Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Swimming for the first time this season in front of a home crowd Gardner-Webb senior Nathan Lile, freshman Joshua Clarke, and sophomore Tyler Gomez collected wins this afternoon, but it would prove to not be enough as the Wingate University Bulldogs won the dual meet 181-134 in Boiling Springs, N.C.
Lile collected the first win of the afternoon in the 100 free as he swam the speedy time of 46.04, junior Connor Bos who swam well last night finished fourth in the event with a time of 47.80
In the very next event of the day the 200 back, Clarke the freshman from Dillsburg, Pennsylvania led the pack finishing first from a time of 1:54.60 ahead of fellow teammates John Baker (1:54.73) and Peter Wakeley (1:56.37).
Gomez captured his win this afternoon in the 100 fly swimming a time of 51.47 a whole second ahead of the next best time in the event. Fellow sophomore Andrew Knudsen also earned the Runnin' Bulldogs a point by finishing in fourth in the event, swimming a time of 52.88.
Gardner-Webb would finish off the dual meet on a high note as relay team of Lile, Gomez, Hal Mckay, and Connor Bos won the 200 free relay as the quartet combined to swim a time of 1:24.59.
The Runnin' Bulldogs men's swim team will break for the Thanksgiving Holiday before return to the pool at the Fall Frenzy Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. December 4-6.
