
Fusco Selected As The Crons Brand Freshman Of The Week

CHARLOTTE --- Gardner-Webb freshman Alex Fusco (Marietta, Ga.) has been selected as the first Big South Conference weekly honoree in program history, having been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week on Monday after leading the Runnin' Bulldogs to the first win in program history on Friday evening.
Fusco helped Gardner-Webb close out the regular season in style, registering both personal and program season-highs of four goals, three assists and seven points, as the Runnin' Bulldogs scored the final three goals to rally for a 13-12 win over Presbyterian at Spangler Stadium. The freshman midfielder also accounted for six of Gardner-Webb's eight draw controls on the night.
A native of Marietta, Ga., Fusco has made a significant impact in her first season with the Runnin' Bulldogs, tallying 12 goals, six assists and 18 points in just seven games. She currently ranks second on the team in both goals and points, while leading the Runnin' Bulldogs in assists.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when the seventh-seeded Runnin' Bulldogs travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on second-seeded Liberty in the quarterfinal round of the Big South Tournament at 4:00 pm.
